“Pride Rock” is a seamless collaborative project from rap duo “Young Troubled Minds” hailing from Cleveland Hts., Ohio and New York native “Leo Light.” Released June 15, 2013, just a year shy of a decade after the release of Disney’s original “The Lion King,” “Pride Rock” contains themes directly and indirectly from this childhood classic. With audio snippets from the actual film, soul striking instrumentals and images painted by these three talented young lyricists, it is almost certain that listeners will temporarily escape the worries of the world as they journey to and through “Pride Rock.”

  25. I’m an artist out of Phoenix, AZ and in all honesty I’m trying to get off the ground. This song was posted on YouTube just a couple days ago and could use some coverage to help build a buzz. This song is very personal, it is about my struggles being a young father and how I overcame them. I was once told that if the music is good it enough it will reach the people. As I’m sure you will see upon listening to the track I pride myself on my lyricism and quality of the music. You can hear more of my stuff @ youtube.com/arthurrays reverbnation.com/arthurrays facebook.com/arthurrays or just ask and I can send you whatever you need. I appreciate you taking a listen and it would be huge to me if you share this track. Arthur Rays- In A War, produced by Spence Mills http://youtu.be/MrRCCQpBb0w

  27. JSWISS,

I am a hip hop artist based out of New Jersey. A handful of local rappers and I recently filmed a rap cypher titled “Crown Life Cyph 2” (part of a series of cyphers my label Crown Life hosts). “Rap cyphers” nowadays typically consist of rappers performing verses that are written beforehand, yet still insinuating that they are freestyles. That is not what this video is showing. The video shows rappers spitting legitimate raps off the top of the head. Freestyling is the origin of hip hop and I think that your blog’s following would appreciate the authenticity of the art of freestyle and it’s ties to the roots of hip hop. The video link is below.

  28. 24/7 Hip Hop,

Lyrical is an up and coming Hip Hop artist out of North New Jersey who incorporates 90’s elements of hip hop with current elements of hip hop to create his own sound. As a result, a polished, unpredictable flow comes to the forefront. The name “Lyrical” was self given because of a choice to use more than simple, more complex rhyme schemes to say clever and prolific things. Lyrical then formed an entrepreneur collective called “Crown Life” to help release his music. With Lyrical’s biggest influences being Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, 50 cent & The Fugees; Lyrical brings you a project called “Do It Better [The Remix-tape]”. The mixtape includes a compilation of Lyrical’s favorite songs remixed. It is up to the listener to decide whether they think in fact, he “Did It Better” hence the mixtape’s title “Do It Better”

    • January 21st, 2014

Nashville artist Gee Slab releases a new track entitled “Embarrassin Us” to jumpstart the new year. Slab has been working diligently on his new project “MALCOLM LITTLE,” which is set to drop in March. Embarrassin Us holds an interesting collage of artwork as he preaches about being embarrassed by certain individuals followed by the highs and lows of life. Slab also grabs fellow East Nashville artist Petty over a chorus chanting “Quit wit them pu**y ass raps, you’re embarrassin’ us, and take that monkey sh*t off, you’re embarrassin’ us.” The track was produced by Bandplay and MMG’s newest signee to the production team Mike Ewing.

  34. There’s a new female MC on the rise by the name of Black Frost aka Da Beauty & Da Beast. She recently did a tribute to all the female rappers in the game “Sincerely Yours”. Which shows true spirit being that most women just hate on each other. Word on the streets is she was supposed to be on the Atlanta version of Love & Hip Hop but was too “street” for the show threatening to “blast first ask questions last” ( in the famous words of Biggie ) when asked about her opinion of fighting on the show.

Seems like one to watch! Her mixtape – amply titled “No Love ‘N Hip Hop” drops Feb 14th.

A-o,z of Block Alumni is a golden era-“esque” emcee/producer that hails from Jackson,MI. With influences such as Nas, The roots, AZ, Pete Rock, and J.Dilla, its easy to understand why his tracks are so reminiscent of 90’s hip hop. Clever wordplay and a street conscious flow, over classic boom-bap production is how A-o,z plans to make a name for his self solo this time around. With his upcoming project “Block Alumni: Genesis” due to release spring 2014, its only right he drops the single first “Devine Rhymer” now! Here it is!http://youtu.be/froX7Sax4d8
